All the characteristics that make Goldendoodles such popular dogs are present in F1 doodles. This includes having hypoallergenic traits, a caring disposition, and noticeable intelligence. It’s remember, though, that some F1 Goldendoodles shed a little to moderately, making them a better fit for households with minor allergies. The Goldendoodle coats are often shaggy or wavy, and F1 Doodles occasionally have extremely curly coats.

F2 Second Generation Goldendoodles

F2 Goldendoodles

(50 % Golden Retriever and 50 % Poodle)

The second filial generation of Goldendoodles is known as the F2 Goldendoodle. This hybrid was created by crossing two F1 Goldendoodles. These are the Goldendoodles’ most diverse generation. Given that they share the same percentage of Poodle and Golden Retriever, the F2 generations generate specimens that are comparable to the F1 generation. The F2 Goldendoodle generation has the most variant genetics in terms of coat type, coat hair, and shedding variety, most breeders will not breed an F2 Goldendoodle.

 F2B – F1 Goldendoodle + F1B Goldendoodle

(37.5% Golden Retriever + 62.5% Poodle or 25% Golden Retriever + 75% Poodle)

Two F1B Goldendoodle breeds, making the F2B consisting of 75% Poodle and 25% Golden Retriever. Due to the high poodle gene content in this F2B Goldendoodle generation, the coat is primarily curly or wavy. This implies that the Goldendoodle will be more hypoallergenic and have less shedding. There are, nevertheless, always outliers to the genetic norms, just like with most hybrid dogs. Since they are the third generation of offspring, the F2B Goldendoodle generation is frequently called a Multi-generation Goldendoodle.

F2B – F1 Goldendoodle + F1B Goldendoodle

(18.75% Golden Retriever + 81.25% Poodle)

A standard or miniature poodle and an F2B Goldendoodle are crossed to create the F2BB Goldendoodle. It is known as an F2BB Goldendoodle and receives a second “B” in its nomenclature since it is a 2nd generation backcross with at least two purebred Standard Poodle parents.

Because of the high Poodle genetic content, an F2BB Goldendoodle is the most hypoallergenic and non-shedding of all the second-generation Goldendoodles. After the F1BB Goldendoodle, this Goldendoodle has the second-highest Poodle genetic makeup. An F2BB Goldendoodle is most likely going to have a curly coat, which means daily brushing and occasional grooming will be necessary to keep the fur from matting. That being said, this generation of Goldendoodles is excellent for those who have severe allergies to pets and don’t want to constantly pick up dog hair.

Since the F2BB Goldendoodles are the fourth generation of offspring, they will be referred to as a Multi-generation Goldendoodle generation. Instead of using the label F2BB, many breeders may refer to their dogs as multi-generation Goldendoodles.
